CITY OF PEORIA, ARIZONA RIVERSIDE ROOM MARCH 08, 2011 A Regular Meeting of the Youth Advisory Board of the City of Peoria, Arizona was convened at 8866 W Thunderbird Road in open and public session at 6:30 p.m. Members Present: Katherine Brown, Victoria Garcia, Elizabeth Gonzalez, Meg Grose, Callie Hartson, Kelly Jasper, Jacob Jelinek, Victoria Johnson, Ramon Mendoza, Thomas Prior, Sean Proia and Anthony Silva Members Absent: Shelbie Staley-excused, Tyler Arkin-excused, Tyler Ashcroft- excused, Jasmine Bejarano-excused, Hunter Finn-unexcused, Austin Hatfield- excused, Mariah Hearne-excused, Brooke Heisserman-excused and Shelby Park- excused. The motion was seconded by Ramon Mendoza and, upon vote, carried unanimou Disposition of Absence: Discussion and possible action to excuse the following members Shelbie Staley-excused, Tyler Arkin-unexcused, Jasmine Bejarano-excused, Hunter Finn-excused, Meg Grose- unexcused, Callie Hartson-unexcused, Jacob Jelinek-unexcused, Victoria Johnson- excused, Brooke Heisserman-unexcused, Shelby Park-excused and Anthony Silva-unexcused from the regular February 8, 2011 meeting. A motion was made by Callie Hartson not to excuse the members listed above for unknown reasons and to excuse those with reasons. The motion was seconded by Ramon Mendoza and, upon vote, carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: 3R YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD MINI GRANT APPLICATION REVIEW The board reviewed two applications for the $200 mini grant. A motion was made by Victoria Garcia to award the grant to the Sunrise Mtn. H.S. Empty Bowl Program. The motion was seconded by Jacob Jelinek and, upon vote, carried unanimously. 4R YOUTH GOVERNMENT DAY 2011 Updated the board on the t-shirt design, guest speakers and day of event schedule. Youth Delicate packets were handed out to board members from Peoria and Centennial H.S. to give to Teachers. 5R YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD SHIRTS Discussed t-shirt design. Electric blue t-shirt with black writing. Front: “Got Government?” Back: “Peoria Youth Advisory Board”. 6R GUEST SPEAKERS PROGRAM No ideas giving at this time. Item will be carried over to next meeting agenda for more discussion. 7R RIVER TRAIL AND CLEAN UP Discussed volunteering to help at the River and Trail Clean-up Saturday, March 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 8R PIONEER DAYS Discussed volunteering to help at Peoria Pioneer Days event Saturday, April 2 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 9R LUKE WEST VALLEY RECREATION EXPO Discussed volunteering to help at the Luke West Valley Recreation Expo on Saturday, April 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at El Mirage Park.
