A Regular Meeting of the Arts Commission of the City of Peoria, Arizona, was 
convened at 8463 W. Monroe Street, at 5:05 p.m.

Members Present:   Robert Benson, John Buonagurio, Lizabeth Gordon, Marleejean 
Johnson and Jack Lytle

Members Absent:   Wayne Baxter

Other Municipal Officials Present:  Jeff Tyne, Community Services Director; 
Andre Licardi, Cultural Arts Coordinator and Ellen Comella, Administrative 
Assistant

CONSENT AGENDA

All items listed with a “C” are considered to be routine by the Arts Commission 
and were enacted by one motion.


Minutes:

1C Discussion and possible action to approve/excuse member’s absence from 
February 8, 2011 regular meeting:  Linda Balance, Robert Benson and Marleejean 
Johnson

2C Discussion and possible action to approve the minutes of February 8, 2011

A motion was made by Jack Lytle to approve the consent agenda; the motion was 
seconded by John Buonagurio and the motion carried unanimously.


New Business: 
  
3R	Community Services Update

Jeff Tyne introduced himself as the interim Community Services Director.  Jeff 
Tyne also advised that David Hunenberg has retired as the Library Manger, will 
be working on a temporary basis on the Arts Master Plan.  No action taken

4R	Proposed Budget Recommendations 2012

Jeff Tyne went over the Fiscal Year 2012 budget numbers, will be brought before 
the City Council at the May 17th meeting.  No action taken


5R	Request for Qualifications Update

Andre Licardi spoke about the Call to Artists, only received 5 submittals.  Will 
be submitting a new request.    No action taken.

6R	Art Grants

Andre Licardi advised that the Program, Festival and General Operating Support 
Grants are in the budget again for the third year.   No action taken

7R	Summer Schedule

After discussion it was decided not to have a set schedule for the summer in case 
a meeting was needed for June or July.  No action taken

	
Call to the Public:  None


Reports from Staff:   

1.   Bravo Peoria Update

Andre Licardi spoke about the event and advised that the attendance was up from 
last year.

2.  Art Gallery Update

Andre Licardi advised that since the opening in January over 1000 people have 
visited the Art Gallery.  Always looking for volunteers for 3 hour shifts.

3.  Pioneer Day Update

Andre Licardi worked at the Art Gallery during the Pioneer Day event,  two visitors 
attended.

4.  Celebration of Artist Update

Andre Licardi advised that the response was wonderful.  Several artists commented 
that this was the best show to date.

5.  Arts Commission Board Vacancies

Andre Licardi advised that there are three board vacancies, currently working on 
interviews, should be filled in the next few months.




Reports from Commission:  None 


Being no further business to come before the Commission, a motion was made by John 
Buonagurio to adjourn the meeting; the motion was seconded by Jack Lytle.  The 
motion carried unanimously and the meeting was adjourned at 5:52 p.m.
