About the Division
The Planning Division of the Community Development Department
is composed of 10 dedicated employees who are responsible for the
development and implementation of the City’s current and long range
development standards and policies. The Planning Department serves as
advisory staff to the citizens who make up the Planning and Zoning
Commission, the Board of Adjustment, the Design Review Board and the
various City hearing officer positions.
Activities
Current planning activities of the division include the review
and coordination of zoning cases, subdivision plats, site plans, the
administration of design review requirements, variance requests, use
permits, sign permits, zoning ordinance amendments, and petitions for
annexation. Long-range planning activities of the division include
the administration, maintenance and amendment process to the City’s
General Plan, preparation of various long-range planning reports and
studies and project management of long-range planning related consulting
projects
