Recreation Aide
GENERAL PURPOSE
Assists in the implementation of a wide variety of
Recreation activities and/or programs.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from Recreation Programmer and
Recreation Coordinator. Receives technical and functional
supervision from Recreation Specialist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations
of the various types of work that may be performed. The

logical assignment to this class.
Implements a variety of recreation activities and/or
programs.
Assists with scheduling and implementing daily activities
such as arts and crafts, games, trips and outdoor
activities.
Assists with purchasing equipment and supplies for
assigned program.
Maintains recreation facilities in a safe, clean and
orderly manner.
Ensures the safety of participants. Performs CPR / First
Aid as needed.
Assists with the record keeping necessary for the
operation of a site. This may include registering
participants and collecting fees.
Communicates daily schedules, rules, problems, and
concerns to affected individuals, including staff, parents
and participants.
Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in
writing. Assists with other recreation programs as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED equivalent and one year experience
in the recreation field. Possession of a valid AZ drivers
license, First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation *(CPR)
certification. Client Intervention Training (CIT)
certification within 60 days when working with people with
disabilities. Ability to obtain Class I fingerprint
clearance. Ability to present proof of T.B. test.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of
those that must be met by employees to successfully perform
the essential functions of this class. Reasonable

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and 20
pounds of force frequently, and or up to 10 pounds of force
constantly to move objects.
MENTAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, employees are
regularly required to use written and oral communication
skills, read and interpret data, information and documents;
observe and interpret situations; interact with staff,
customers, the public and others encountered during the
course of work.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

performing the essential functions of this class. Reasonable

Position is subject to environmental conditions. Program
takes place both inside and outside. Position is subject to
noise and/or vibration.
