Traffic Count Information

The City of Peoria Traffic Counts can be used for various city planning and marketing analysis. They provide information on growth and trends in travel within the City. Once a year, the City of Peoria hires a consultant to collect the traffic counts from over two hundred locations on arterial and collector streets within the city boundaries. Counts are taken during a twenty-four (24) hour period at each location, during a typical business day while school is in session.  The traffic count tables provide data for the past 4 years.

Locating a Particular Count

There are two ways to locate a particular street segment traffic count.  To see traffic counts for the past four (4) years, use the Traffic Count Tables. The tables will provide the total traffic counts and the breakdowns for each direction. If a count is unavailable at a particular location, it may be due to construction that occurred on that roadway segment during the time the traffic counts were taken for that year. You can also access a PDF document with Traffic Counts from 2002 to 2006. Another way to obtain the traffic counts for the most recent year is to use the 2007 Traffic Count Map. Zoom in on the desired location. The number in the box is the total traffic count for that location, and the numbers on the top and bottom are the directional traffic counts for that segment. The 2006 Traffic Count Map for the past year is still available. Note: The Traffic Count map is a PDF document, created from an AutoCAD file.

Because of the fine detail, at least 11"x17" paper or larger should be used for best results. For info on PDF files, Click Here.
