The Facilities Division of Public Works fills the
role of steward for over 800,000 square feet of City
owned building space. We assure that City
facilities meet or exceed the legal requirements of
all applicable codes, ordinances, and laws
pertaining to commercial occupancy of buildings.
Our responsibilities include assuring that the
significant investment that our citizens have made
in building infrastructure is managed in a way that
assures sustainability.
Our Building Maintenance
section performs routine inspections of buildings
and perform basic maintenance and repair functions.
The Technical Operations
section is responsible for our building automation
systems including a city wide system that controls
and monitors HVAC systems to assure a comfortable
environment for our citizens and visitors to our
facilities that are accessed by the public and our
employees while always keeping an eye on how much
electrical energy we are using. In addition this
group is responsible for operation and maintenance
of life safety systems and various electronic
security systems.
Custodial operations is
responsible for maintaining a healthy environment
for our citizens, visitors, and employees in our
buildings. They also are responsible for managing a
wide range of contractual services and are the
primary entity to coordinate the use of City owned
meeting space.
The Facilities Division also
operates and evening shift which is a hybrid of all
Facilities functions.
