Capitol Christmas Tree Visits Peoria En Route to D.C.
11/3/2009
For the first time, the Christmas Tree that will decorate the nation’s Capitol will come from the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in Arizona. The 75-foot tree will make its way to Washington in mid-November, but not before making a stop in Peoria. Peoria will host a Capitol Christmas Tree event from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Nov. 12, at Rio Vista Community Park, 8866 W. Thunderbird Road. The tree will trucked into the park within that time frame, and members of the public will have an opportunity to view it, decorate cookies, make crafts and listen to the Centennial High School Jazz Band.
