Veterans Day Celebration Comes Early to Peoria Peoria will celebrate Veterans Day earlier than usual this year with events the morning of Saturday, Nov. 7, at Rio Vista Recreation Center. On the agenda:
• Peoria Veterans Day 5K Run – 7:30 a.m. (Registration begins at 6 a.m.)
• Family Fitness Walk – 7:35 a.m.
• Free Pancake Breakfast – 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
• Awards Ceremony – 8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.
• Veterans Day Recognition – 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
• Armed Forces Dodgeball Tournament – 10 a.m. to noon.
Veterans in attendance can register to interview for the Veterans History Project, which honors American war veterans by preserving their stories of service to the country in the Library of Congress.
