Top MLB Draft Pick to Pitch in Peoria

PEORIA, Ariz. (Oct. 21, 2009) – Major League Baseball's top draft pick, pitcher Stephen Strasburg, will make his second professional start Thursday for the Phoenix Desert Dogs as they visit the Peoria Javelinas in Arizona Fall League action at the Peoria Sports Complex.

Strasburg, whose pitches have been clocked as high as 102 mph, signed with the Washington Nationals for a record $15.1 million.

The Javelinas host the Desert Dogs at 12:35 pm. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. The Peoria Sports Complex is located at 16101 N. 83rd Ave., just south of Bell Road. Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for seniors and youths, and parking is free. And under the stadium's Thirsty Thursday promotion, fans 21 and older can purchase a 12 oz.
