Peoria, Ariz. (Sept. 28, 2009) – John Imig,
acting IT director, is City Manager Carl Swenson’s choice to permanently fill
Peoria’s vacant Information Technology director position.
“I’m very pleased we were able to promote from
within to fill this critical position,” said City Manager Carl Swenson. “I am
confident John will do a fine job of moving the city’s technology function into
the next decade.”
Imig has been with Peoria since January 2006,
when he was hired as the IT operations manager. He’s been acting director since
July of this year, following Sandy Teetsel’s retirement.
He holds a Master of Science Degree in Computer
Information Technology Management, from Regis University, Denver; and a Bachelor
of Science from Metropolitan State College of Denver.
“We are really pleased to name John Imig to the
director position,” said Deputy City Manager Susan Thorpe. “John is well
qualified as a leader and manager to take our IT department into the future. I
look forward to working with John as we face the challenges and opportunities
ahead.”
The IT Department is made up of 46 staff members
responsible for all technology systems in the city, including network systems,
computer hardware and software, and telecommunications.
After confirmation by City Council on Oct. 6, Imig will permanently step into
the director post on Oct. 7 at a starting salary of $129,000.
