PEORIA,
Ariz. (March 20, 2007) – A professional association for commercial real
estate has selected a Peoria development for its annual Talk of the Town award.
The
Arizona chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties
honored the Thunderbird Office Park @ 101, on 83rd Avenue north of Thunderbird
Road, for being one of the most talked about developments in the Valley. That
makes 2007 the fourth straight year a project in Peoria has been honored for
design or architecture.
“This is a
big deal in the real estate world,” said Steve Prokopek, the city’s economic
development director. “It means it was the most discussed, in a positive way,
among brokers and developers this year.”
Thunderbird Office Park @ 101 comprises two structures. Building A fronts 83rd
Avenue and is designed for small users. Building B backs up to Loop 101 and
offers large corporate or institutional users visibility from the freeway.
Western International University is the anchor tenant, joined by Countrywide
Home Loans. Each two-story building contains 75,000 square feet of space.
The
project was developed by Helmholdt Real Estate of Paradise Valley and McShane
Cos. of Rosemont, Ill.; designed by Patrick Hayes Architecture of Scottsdale;
and built by McShane Construction Corp., a subsidiary of McShane Cos.
“We are
thrilled to receive the award this year,” said Shana Helmholdt, one of the
principals of Helmholdt Real Estate. “It puts a cap on a project that was a
wonderful team effort among construction brokers, leasing consultants, the
general contractor and the city of Peoria. The project certainly has experienced
a lot of success, as evidenced by the WIU sign visible from Loop 101.”
Other
award-winning projects in Peoria since 2004 are Cibola Vista Resort and Spa,
Vistancia, two fire stations and the city’s Public Safety Administration
Building.
