Police Seek Public Input During Re-Accreditation Process
4/9/2009
The Police Department will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 20, to gather comments from employees and members of the public as part of its effort to retain the international accreditation it has held since 1997. The event will be in the City Council Chamber on the Peoria Municipal Campus. A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. (CALEA) will examine all aspects of the department's policies, procedures, management, operations and support services. Verification by the team that the department continues to meet CALEA's standards is part of a voluntary process to maintain accreditation. Anyone who cannot attend the meeting but still would like to provide comments to the assessment team may do so by calling 623-773-8094 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on April 20.
