Peoria Announces Special Waste Collections for January

The Solid Waste Division will conduct the following special collections in January to accommodate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, household hazardous waste and loose trash:
• The city will accept so-called household hazardous waste – home electronics, chemicals, petroleum products, tires and the like – from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 17, at Peoria’s Municipal Operations Center, 8850 N. 79th Ave., just south of Olive Avenue.
• Curbside collection days will shift the week of Jan. 19 to accommodate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Pickups that normally take place Monday and will be made on Tuesday; collections that normally are done on Tuesday will be made on Wednesday.
• Peoria’s Loose Trash Cleanup Program will run from Monday, Jan. 26, through Friday, May 15. A schedule has been mailed with utility bills.
