Peoria Moves Forward with Sports Complex Area Study
Project Team to Meet, Public Workshop Scheduled
12/30/2008
PEORIA, Ariz. (Dec. 30, 2008) – Peoria officials and a consultant will be
hosting a public workshop to discuss the Peoria Sports Complex District Urban
Design Study on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. in the Peoria Sports Complex,
Mariners Clubhouse (multi-purpose room). This is the first of three workshops
scheduled over the next seven months where the public is invited to comment.
The study will help identify opportunities for a more pedestrian-friendly and
sustainable mixed-use district. It focuses on the area bounded by the Loop 101,
Bell Road, south bank of Skunk Creek, and the eastern city limits near 75th
Avenue.
The city and a 27-member project advisory committee will meet for the first time
the preceding night. The committee includes Peoria residents, area business and
property owners, the Mariners and Padres sports teams, boards and commission
members, and others. This group also will schedule two additional meetings over
the next seven months.
