Peoria Selects New Human Resources Director
Official from Colorado Awaits City Council Approval
6/12/2008
Peoria, Ariz. (June 12, 2008) – Wynette Reed, Human
Resources director for Larimer County, Colo., will take on that role for the
City of Peoria, pending City Council approval.
If councilmembers sign off on the appointment at their June 17 meeting, Reed
will begin work in Peoria July 14.
The Peoria job became vacant in April following the retirement of Greg Eckman,
who held the position for nine years. The city conducted a nationwide search
that yielded 156 applicants.
“Wynette's skills and talents will provide positive, strategic leadership.
Working with the fine HR team already in place, she will help move our Human
Resources Department forward,” explains Deputy City Manager Susan Thorpe, who
oversees the department.
Reed has more than 20 years of human resources experience in the public sector.
She began her career as an HR specialist for the City of Loveland, Colo. She
moved on to become the assistant HR director of Fort Collins, Colo., a city with
131,000 residents and more than 1,500 employees. In Larimer County, she manages
a staff of 18 that supports a work force of 1,500.
Reed will relocate to Arizona with her husband within the next few weeks.
