City Begins to Prep Bell Road for Rubberized Asphalt

Peoria has hired a private contractor to mill the surface of Bell Road and repave it with rubberized asphalt from New River west to the city limits, about a half-mile west of 91st Avenue. Starting Monday, crews will begin removing and replacing sections of curb and gutter, an effort that will take about two weeks and close the adjacent right lane during the day. The timing of the rubberization will depend upon the temperature, but the work will be done at night Sundays through Thursdays. It will restrict traffic to one lane in each direction from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
