Successful Tournament Prompts City to Consider More

Players from 31 teams, divided among three age groups, competed March 22 in Peoria’s first three-on-three basketball tournament held at the Rio Vista Recreation Center. The winning teams were Garcia’s Gangstas in the 12- to 14-year-old division, Independence in the 15- to 17-year-old division and O.H.I.O. in the 18-and-older group.

“The tournament overall was a great success,” said Recreation Programmer Shane Hannah. “The City of Peoria is looking to offer this tournament at least four times a year.” The next one is slated tentatively for June, Hannah said. For more information, visit www.peoriaaz.gov/sports/.
