Recreation Classes to Focus on Fitness for Mom, Baby
1/2/2008
Peoria's Recreation
Division is offering Stroller Strides, a total fitness program for new moms and
their babies. Classes include warm-up and 50-minute power walk, with stops for
body toning using the stroller, the outdoors and exercise tubing. Stroller
Strides also incorporates new-mom support via play groups, discussion and a
variety of additional social activities for moms and their babies.
The program will
operate on a “punch pass” system, in which moms can attend up to 10 classes on
whichever Mondays, Wednesdays and/or Fridays work best with their schedules.
Passes are valid for three months. Former Arizona Diamondback Luis Gonzalez will
be on hand for autographs after the free opening session Jan. 9 from 9:30 a.m.
to 10:30 a.m. That session will begin at Ramada No. 10 (near the playground) at
Rio Vista Community Park, located on Thunderbird Road just west of Loop 101.
To obtain a 10-class
pass, call 623-773-7137 or register online at
recreation.peoriaaz.gov. (Code #46555) Fees are $106 for Peoria residents
and $111 non-residents.
