Peoria, Ariz. (Nov. 20, 2007) – After a nationwide search for the most
qualified candidate, the City of Peoria has found a perfect fit in Chris Easom,
its new sports stadium manager at the award-winning Peoria Sports Complex.
Easom brings with him a wealth of experience in baseball and
stadium operations - and with that, plans to take operations and event
programming to the next level. “I am beyond excited to be joining the staff at
the sports complex,” he said. “The facility is beautiful, and I look forward to
calling the City of Peoria my new home.”
Easom comes from Jupiter, Fla., where he was director of
stadium operations and events for five years at Roger Dean Stadium, spring
training home of the St. Louis Cardinals and Florida Marlins. He also served as
general manager for one of two minor league teams there. During his tenure, he
brought in a number of events, including concerts, tournaments and baseball
camps, and oversaw all related activities such as staffing, parking and
security.
“Chris is a high-caliber individual, both professionally and
personally,” said J.P. de la Montaigne, Peoria’s community services director.
“We are fortunate to be gaining his expertise and leadership.”
With nearly 10 years of experience managing other spring
training baseball facilities in Florida, including Port Charlotte for the Texas
Rangers, and Vero Beach for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Easom has a broad knowledge
of marketing, budgeting, food service, ticketing and clubhouse operations. He
has excelled at managing facility staff, and creating a cohesive, fan-friendly
atmosphere.
Easom will begin on Monday, Dec. 10, and report to Chris
Calcaterra, Peoria’s sports facilities manager.
