Jomax Fire Station Earns National Design Award
10/31/2007
Peoria’s new fire
station on Jomax Road won a National Top Merit Award from the Fire Industry
Equipment Research Organization. The honor was announced Oct. 25 at the group’s
Fire Station Design Excellence Awards Program and Competition in Charlotte, N.C.
The Peoria firehouse was one of two honored in the New Construction category.
This is the fourth straight year a project in Peoria has been honored for design
or architecture. Among those projects were several related to public safety: Two
other fire stations – near Westbrook Village and across Grand Avenue from
Oldtown -- won awards from Fire Chief magazine, and the city’s Public
Safety Administration Building garnered an Excellence Award from the
Design-Build Institute of America.
