Library Summer Reading Program a Home Run for Kids
6/7/2007
The Peoria Public
Library is offering a baseball-themed summer reading program for kids. The
initiative -- EXTRA! EXTRA! READ YOUR WAY TO THE BALLPARK! -- is in cooperation
with The Arizona Republic and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Library officials
hope children will stop by to pick up a game board and start reading. They can
advance one space on the game board for every 20 minutes spent reading, every 50
pages read or each book completed. Participants will win a prize each time they
advance seven spaces. Those that cross the finish line will win a free ticket to
a Diamondbacks game, where kids ages 6-14 could take part in The Arizona
Republic Kids’ Clinic to improve their baseball skills under the direction of
the Diamondbacks staff. For more information, call 623-773-7555.
