Officials to Discuss Plans for 83rd Avenue in South Peoria

City officials will hold an open house Thursday, Dec. 9, to discuss proposed road work on 83rd Avenue from Las Palmeritas Drive to Mountain View Road. Their goals are to explain the proposal, answer questions and receive public input. The proposed project includes:

  • Widening 83rd Avenue from Butler Drive to Hatcher Road to two lanes in each direction, with bike lanes and a raised, landscaped median.

  • Constructing a raised, landscaped median on 83rd Avenue from Hatcher Road to Mountain View Road.

  • Extending Butler Drive east from 83rd Avenue to 79th Avenue.

  • Utility relocations, drainage improvements, street lighting, traffic signal upgrades, bus stops and crosswalks.

The open house will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Point of View Room off the lobby of Peoria’s Development and Community Services Building, on the northeast corner of 85th Avenue and Mountain View Road.
