Free Classes Cover Desert Landscaping, Herb Gardening

Peoria is offering a free, one-hour “Landscaping in the Arizona Desert” class twice this fall: Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 9 a.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 5:30 p.m. Leeann Spahos, a city water-conservation specialist, will explain how to use an interactive online guide, a garden gallery and design ideas. Attendees will receive a copy of the compact disc to take home. On Thursday, Sept. 16, Kirti Mathura, a horticulturist from the Desert Botanical Garden, will discuss low-desert herb gardening from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The classes will be in the Point of View Room of Peoria’s Development and Community Services Building, 9875 N. 85th Ave. Pre-registration is requested; call 623-773-7286 or visit conserve.peoriaaz.gov.
