Name Swim Team to Win Family Season Pass

PEORIA, Ariz. (Feb. 3, 2010) – The city of Peoria is holding a contest to name a fourth swim team. The winner will receive a family season pass valid at all three Peoria pools: Peoria, Centennial, and Sunrise.

The current teams include the Sunrise Sharks (Red), the Centennial Stingrays (Purple), and the Peoria Piranhas (Blue). The new team will be based out of Centennial Pool, but swim meets will rotate among all of the city pools.

Swim team registration will begin May 5 for Peoria residents and May 6 for non-residents. Schedules and dates will be posted online by March 5.

Submit your ideas for the new swim team name by Feb. 12 to aquatics@peoriaaz.gov or mail to City of Peoria Aquatics, 9875 N. 85th Ave., Peoria, AZ 85345. Be sure to include first and last name, address, phone number, email address, mascot name, and team color. The winner will be announced at the informational meeting on Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in Rio Vista Recreation Center.
