Mesquite District Update for April 16, 2013
As we look around our city, there is no doubt that development is still moving. It recently came to my attention that there may be residents who do not know how to find out about upcoming and existing development projects. Thankfully, the City of Peoria has already created several resource avenues, which are available to any resident who is interested in learning more about the many projects happening within our community.
Following are some tips to accessing this information and understanding the development process.
Development Process Overview
The Building Peoria website provides a current list of major construction projects within our city. This includes major water, street, and even park improvements. From this site, residents can also view a city map to select a project area. This is especially helpful if you are not aware of the type of project that is happening near your home. You may view the Building Peoria site by clicking here.
The city of Peoria has another great resource, which I have found extremely helpful. The Planned Area Development (PAD) web page is continuously updated with ongoing changes to the Planned Area Developments. This includes a variety of private developers, who have submitted development requests and changes to the city of Peoria's Planning Department. Through this page, residents may scroll through all of the active projects to learn more about the development activity. To access the Planned Area Development web page, please click here.
In addition to these tools, the Planning and Zoning web page offers a variety of resources. This includes development summaries, public hearing notices and the Planning and Zoning Commission packets. Click here to access this page.
Interested in learning about the economic development initiatives within Peoria's Entertainment District (83rd Avenue & Bell Road)? Visit www.p83az.com to review information about the proposed site plans.
As you can see, there are several communication avenues available for our community. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact our Planning and Zoning Department at (623) 773-7601; Economic Development Department at (623) 773-7735; or Engineering Department at (623) 773-7212.
