Mesquite District Update for January 13, 2014
Last year, a public meeting was held seeking input from interested residents regarding the aesthetics of the sound wall on Happy Valley Road between 91st and 95th Avenue. A majority of the feedback requested we change the existing mountain pattern and color scheme to something more compatible with the adjacent community and environment.
Residents will now begin to see contractors working to stucco and paint the wall. This project is currently planned from January through April 2014 as outlined below.
In addition, the City of Peoria is also looking to add pieces of Public Art in North Peoria, which could include art on or around the Happy Valley Wall as well as surrounding areas. Keep an eye out for the meeting announcements!
January 8 – January 31: North wall stucco on street-facing side and paint on the residential side.
February 1 – February 21: South wall stucco on street-facing side and paint on the residential side.
March 10 – March 17: Cure time for stucco – no activity or street closures during this period. Paint the stucco on the North wall.
March 19 – 28: Paint the stucco on the south wall.
As with any construction project, a variety of factors may impact this schedule and your patience is appreciated as the project moves forward.
Traffic barricades are necessary and will be blocking the outside lane of west bound traffic (this includes the bike lane and pedestrian sidewalk). If you experience any concerns or issues during the project, please contact the City’s project manager – Bill Beaudoin at 623-773-7125 or via e-mail, email@example.com.
