Citizen's Police Academy Recruiting for Next Class
Citizen’s Police Academy Recruiting for Next Class
The Peoria Police Department will be hosting a 12-week Citizen’s Police Academy beginning Monday, August 19, 2013. This popular program provides an exciting “hands-on” and behind the scenes look at law enforcement.
Participants will experience what it’s like to gather evidence, use a firearms training simulator, book a prisoner into jail, interview suspects and witnesses, use a radar gun, and many other law enforcement activities. Participants will also learn what it takes to become a police officer, from the hiring process to the police academy experience.
Whether you are interested in law enforcement as a career, want to learn more about your local police department, or just want to see the inner-workings of a rapidly growing, internationally accredited agency, the Peoria Police Department’s Citizen’s Academy is the place to start.
The program is hosted in the Peoria Public Safety Administration Building at 8351 W. Cinnabar in Downtown Peoria, and meets every Monday night from 6:30p.m. to 9:30p.m., except on Labor Day we will meet on Tuesday September 3rd.
To be eligible to participate in the academy you must be an adult who resides or works in Peoria. You can register online at www.peoriaaz.gov/police under the Community Relations Programs page. Or you can get an application through the Police Department’s Neighborhood Services Section by calling (623) 773-7099.
