July is National Parks and Recreation Month!
Peoria is celebrating the 30th anniversary of National Parks and Recreation Month.
During the month, we will offer various activities and a contest to commemorate this special anniversary.
Celebrate with us in these ways!
› Share Your Best Park Photos and Enter to Win Prizes
We want to see you in action in a City of Peoria park or recreation facility! Take pictures, send them to us and be entered into a prize drawing. Enter up to three photos. Pictures may include people, dogs and landscape images. Enter by emailing email@example.com with Photo Contest in the subject line, and include your name, phone number and the park location or facility. Submit photos no later than Friday, July 31. Prizes include annual passes to Rio Vista Recreation Center, Peoria Sports Complex tickets and VIP tickets for signature festivals. Photos entered may be used by the City of Peoria to promote the City, and all entries will become and remains property of the City of Peoria and may be used without permission or credit.

With more than 35 neighborhood parks, two community parks with ball fields, large playgrounds, splash pads and urban fishing lakes, and more than 25 miles of hiking and biking trails we offer residents a wide variety of recreation opportunities to be active, healthy and happy.
› Giving Away 30 Rio Vista Guest passes
Rio Vista Recreation Guest passes will be given to the first 30 people who request it in honor of this month. For those who come and play, participants will also be entered into a drawing to win a free 3-month family pass. Rio Vista Recreation Center, 8866-A W. Thunderbird Rd., is a state-of-the art fitness facility offering full-service recreation amenities including a workout area, gymnasium, two racquetball courts, one 25-foot-tall climbing wall, a 13-foot-tall bouldering wall, onsite children’s day care and a teen room.

Recreation is a division of the Peoria Community Services Department.
The additional Community Services divisions are below.
This division plans and conducts the maintenance of city parks, most right of way, trails, open space and most retention basins.
The Main Library and Sunrise Mountain Library offer adult, teen and youth programs and services, free Wi-Fi, free public computers, access to databases and free e-books and an interlibrary loan services.
City of Peoria has established itself as an arts leader in the region. This division includes the City’s public art program, the Peoria Arts Commission (PAC), the Percent for the Arts Program and an arts grant program.
The City of Peoria hosts many exciting special events throughout the year for our community including the annual 4th of July All American Festival and the Halloween Monster Bash.
Peoria Sports Complex, contains 13 full sized baseball fields and is home to the Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres for Spring Training and year round player development.
It is the mission of the Community Services Department to meet the needs of the citizens of Peoria by developing, implementing and maintaining quality programs, services, events and facilities which are cost effective, creative and responsive to citizen input.
