Benevilla Grand Opening 2014

Peoria WalMart kindly supplied some bikes for the ParkFest Alta Vista Bike Rodeo. The first raffle winner selected a small bike that he gave to his younger brother. ParkFest Alta Vista included a movie-in-the-park showing of “Frozen.” Vice Mayor Edwards and Councilmember Patena had the opportunity to meet Anna and Elsa at ParkFest Alta Vista!

 Discussion with Students  Fire Station 191 with Peoria High Students 
Each school year, Vice Mayor Edwards meets on the high school campuses with students over their lunch hour for open dialogue. Students brought some interesting conversation in 2015. The Vice Mayor is pictured her at Peoria High School with Councilmember Vicki Hunt who represents the Acacia District. Students from local Peoria high schools, hosted by for the day by Councilmember Edwards, during a tour of Fire Station 191 in the downtown area.

 When Metro Transit unveiled the new wrap that will be on valley busses, Vice Mayor Edwards announced the winner. Sofie Garcia, a PUSD student at Cactus High School, is the 2015 winner.

Vice Mayor Edwards was a passenger in a private historical war plane conducted a flyover for SWAG participants at the Spring event hosted by the Peoria Police Officers Association at the Peoria Sports Complex. Groundbreaking Agua Fria Truck Route Reliever   Del Rio and Zimbro Welcome Home 
Groundbreaking of the Agua Fria Truck Route Reliever, named Tessmer Rd. Councilmember Jon Edwards and his council colleagues along with Luella Tessmer. Tierra Del Rio and Beau Zimbro were severely injured in late 2013 when their Peoria home exploded due to a ruptured gas line. In May, 2015 Peoria council members Jon Edwards, Vicki Hunt, and Bridget Binsbacher welcomed the young couple to their newly rebuilt home.

Vice Mayor Edwards proudly helped open the Skunk Creek Trailhead with parking and equestrian facilities to the public in December, 2014.
Immediately after Skunk Creek Trailhead opens in December of 2014, equestrian users hit the trail.

 2015 Sunset Heights Dedication 
Peoria council members Patena and Carlat join Councilmember Edwards at the ground breaking of Sunset Heights Elementary School in August, 2013. Exactly one year after ground breaking, Sunset Height Elementary School opened to students. Councilmember Edwards honors Mary Lynn McCord, as the school’s library is named after her husband, Joe McCord.




 Forever Young Half Marathon

.Vice Mayor Edwards was the official starter for the Forever Young Half Marathon which went from the Peoria Sports Complex through the Skunk Creek Trailhead to Peoria’s fabulous trail on New River north to the Beardsley Connector, returning to the Sports Complex for a great finish.
