ARC members donated labor to put Zane’s truck in mechanical order so that it would run – a requirement for Make-A-Wish to then take over the project to completely remodel the inside and outside of the 1972 truck. Councilmember Edwards, Make-A-Wish recipient Zane Childress, and Sunrise Mountain High School teacher Scott Herger at the unveiling of a truck being remodeled on Zane’s behalf. Volunteer group, including Peoria Councilmember Jon Edwards, Mayor Barrett, as well as each of their wives, undertook a day of work to landscape the handicap-accessible home built for Army 1st Sgt. Mike Leonard, as part of Homes for the Troops. The blast from an explosion in Afghanistan caused 1st Sgt. Williams to lose both of his legs in 2010. Peoria Councilmember Jon Edwards digs in to help spread landscape gravel. The landscape group completed the volunteer efforts to ready the new handicap-accessible home that was built for Army 1st Sgt. Mike Leonard. Leonard lost both legs in 2010 after an explosion in Afghanistan.
