 Arizona Watercolor Artists Show Featured at the Peoria City Hall Art Gallery  

On view from September 29 through October 30 is the Arizona Watercolor Association (“AWA”) Fall 2014 Juried Members Exhibition featuring 80 fine art works in various water media techniques. Traditional portraits and florals are displayed beside abstracts, collages and pattern studies. The work not only includes transparent watercolor but also inks, gouache and acrylic paint in both traditional and experimental styles. The exhibit is shown in cooperation with West Valley Art Museum which oversees and facilitates the Peoria City Hall Art Gallery.

An Artists Reception and Awards Presentation is scheduled for Thursday, October 16, from 5 to 7 pm. This event is free to the public and light refreshments will be available.

This year’s Juror, selected by AWA, is Bev Jozwiak, an international award-winning artist, author and a signature member of several major national watercolor societies as well as being listed in Who’s Who in American Art. Awards to be presented on October 16 include Best of Show, Awards of Excellence and Merit, Merchant Awards, and Juror’s Award.

West Valley Art Museum, established in 1980 by visionary residents of Sun City, Arizona, is pleased to showcase the art work of Arizona Watercolor Association, founded in 1960, by professional watercolor artists and instructors with a goal to advance the quality of watercolor in Arizona through competitive shows, workshops and scholarships.

The Art Gallery at Peoria City Hall, 8401 W. Monroe Street, Peoria, is open free to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays from 10 am to 4 pm and Thursdays from noon to 6 pm. For group tours by appointment and additional information, contact WVAM at www.wvam.org or 623-972-0635.

The Peoria Art Gallery, operated by WVAM, is located on the first floor of Peoria City Hall and is open to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursdays from noon to 6 p.m. The “Figuratively Speaking” exhibit will continue on view through Feb. 13, 2014.
