Learn More About Sustainability
Environmental sustainability refers to the environmental actions or impacts of what we do. In moving towards sustainability, we are attempting to reduce our ecological footprint or to tread more lightly on the Earth. This equates to reducing the amount of resources we use (and buy), the waste we produce and the emissions we produce. Sustainable organizations operate within an environmental, social and economic context.
Environmental sustainability is a part of this operation and best achieved when integrated with other components. An environmentally sustainable organization seeks to participate within its community and seeks to balance economy, society and environment within its operations. Through seeking balance, an organization may better steward natural and economic resources while taking into account the needs of future generations.
