Is there a pool at the Recreation Center?
No, there is not a pool at the Center. The closest pool to Rio Vista is located at Centennial High School. Call ahead for dates and times pools are open to the public. 623-773-7137
I have a Peoria mailing address but don't live in the City of Peoria. Can I still receive the Peoria resident rate?
No, only actual residents of the City of Peoria who pay City of Peoria property taxes or employees of City of Peoria businesses may utilize the resident rates.
Are fitness classes included in the pass fee?
Group exercise fitness classes are included with the purchase of a pass. The class schedule will be posted at the Recreation Center and online. Additionally, fitness classes through Special Interest Class Program will be available at the Center for an additional fee.
I see that ages 4 and under are free. I have a 4 year old, are there activities for him/her in the Pass Holder area?
Activities are limited for this age group and require direct supervision by a parent or legal guardian. Activities include the walking track during Family Track Times and Open Gym. Childcare for ages 2-8 is available for a two hour period in the Kids' Corner. Special Interest Classes may also be available for this age group.
How were fees and policies determined for the center?
Fees and policies were established through a year long process of gathering and comparing information from similar facilities in other communities. Based upon our findings, the Community Services Department submitted a fee structure to the Peoria City Council in May 2007. This fee structure was determined to be in line with other communities and was subsequently adopted by City Council.
Policies have been established to ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone who enters the facility. While some policies might seem too restrictive or perhaps unnecessary, nearly every policy is designed to address issues which have occurred at similar facilities. Policies were reviewed and adopted by the Parks and Recreation Board in June 2007.
