Members of the Peoria Police Department are committed to providing quality customer service through a community-oriented and problem-solving philosophy. Within this philosophy, department members work with our citizens to identify the root causes of crime for purposes of making long-term improvements in the safety and quality of life in Peoria. This philosophy is also reflected in the agency’s mission and vision statements.

About the Chief of Police
The Chief of Police is the highest ranking sworn position within the police department. The Chief of Police is appointed by the City Manager and is subject to approval by vote of the Mayor and City Council. The Chief of Police is responsible for the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the police department, employing modern law enforcement management practices and principles.
The Chief of Police administers an annual budget of $34.9 million and has law enforcement jurisdiction throughout the 178 square miles that comprise the City of Peoria and command responsibility for 288 employees, civilian and sworn. The Chief of Police reports directly to the City Manager.
